Job Description Accountant
Public auditors are responsible for the business audits of companies – for example the examination of the annual financial statements and advising their clients on business and tax issues. They also perform expert and fiduciary activities.
They work primarily in the field of auditing and tax consulting, in auditing or tax consulting companies, at the Chamber of Auditors, but also at cooperative auditing associations and auditing offices of savings banks and giro associations.
Part of the job and typical duties of an auditor
Auditors mainly carry out business audits. In addition to audits of annual and consolidated financial statements in accordance with internationally recognized accounting principles such as IFRS, this also includes other statutory audits such as special audits in accordance with the German Stock Corporation Act.
Auditors are also provided for voluntary annual audits, due diligence audits and embezzlement audits.

The position of auditor requires professional training with a nationally regulated examination. It usually builds on a completed economics degree.
