Adams was established in 1868 by William Adams, who had come to the area as part of a wagon train from Missouri. He built a cabin and began farming the land, eventually establishing an orchard which still produces apples today. As more settlers came to the area, Adams grew into a small village with several stores and businesses, including a post office which opened in 1871.

The town is surrounded by rolling hills which are covered with lush green grasses and trees. In addition to apple orchards, there are also many vineyards in the area producing grapes for local wineries. The nearby Umatilla National Forest provides plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking and fishing along its rivers and streams.

The community has a rich history dating back to its founding days when it was home to Native American tribes such as the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indians. In more recent times it was also home to many Basque sheepherders who moved into the region during the late 1800s.

Today Adams is still largely agricultural in nature but has grown to include some light industry as well as tourism businesses such as wineries, restaurants and lodging establishments. It is known for its friendly atmosphere where everyone knows each other’s names; perfect for those looking for an escape from hectic city life while still being close enough to enjoy some amenities like shopping or dining out at one of its many eateries.

The town has several parks including Adams Park which offers picnic tables, playground equipment and horseshoe pits; perfect for family gatherings or outdoor events like weddings or reunions. There are also several churches around town representing various faiths where residents can go to find spiritual guidance or just socialize with their neighbors on Sunday mornings after services have ended.

Adams may be small but it still offers plenty for residents and visitors alike from outdoor recreation opportunities such as camping, fishing or hunting in nearby national forests; sightseeing trips through historic towns like Pendleton; wine tasting at local wineries; or just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere that comes with living in such a small rural community surrounded by nature’s beauty yet close enough to larger cities like Portland if you need them too.
