When you think of Los Angeles, you first think of Hollywood and film studios. Both can be seen during a vacation.
Universal Studios Hollywood
The Universal Studios are the first theme park of Universal and were initially only the starting point for the studio tour, where visitors could look behind the scenes of the film studio. Today they are a theme park with numerous attractions. The main attraction, however, is still the Studio Tour, which takes 45 minutes through various film sets such B. Jurassic Park, Spider-Man or King Kong leads. The “Universal Studios Hollywood” at Universal City Plaza are a must for every visitor.
Paramount Pictures Studios
The Paramount Pictures Studios are the last major film studio in Hollywood and also the one that has been in operation for the longest. Simple guided tours with eight visitors each in an electrically powered vehicle are offered there. In Paramount we are still actively working, which means that every tour is different and apart from the affiliated museum there is no program specially for tourists. The tour takes about two hours and you can also take photos here.
Warner Bros. Studio
The Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank is particularly interesting for fans of television series such as “Emergency Room”, “Gilmore Girls” or “Friends”, which are or were shot here. Around half of the tour time of over two hours is on the tour bus, the rest of the time you can visit locations from the inside. The visit is allowed from the age of 8 years, photography is not allowed here.
Hollywood
Of course, anyone visiting LA also has to go to Hollywood. There are various guided tours such. B. offered to the homes of the rich and famous. You can also visit the “ Walk of Fame ”, the world-famous “Hollywood Sign” and the “TCL Chinese Theater” and stroll down Hollywood Boulevard.

Natural History Museum
The city’s natural history museum is especially interesting for dinosaur fans. Because in the “Dinosaur Hall” over 300 real fossils, including 20 complete skeletons and the world’s only growth series of the Tyrannosaurus Rex await visitors. You can also watch the paleontologists at work in the “Dino Lab”, “meet” dinosaurs and marvel at many other exhibits from mastodons to whales and an extensive collection of diamonds. The history of Los Angeles has also found its place in the museum.
The La Brea Tar Pits and the Page Museum
In Hancock Park in the middle of Los Angeles there are various pits which are filled with natural asphalt and which represent one of the most extensive treasuries for fossils, especially from the Pleistocene. Around 300 different animal species from the imperial mammoth to the Californian pocket mouse as well as numerous pollen, seeds and plants have been found here. Los Angeles County Museum of Art
The Los Angeles County Museum is the largest museum in the United States west of Chicago and houses around 130,000 works of art from ancient times to the present, including many exhibits from American, Islamic, and Korean art. It is located on Wilshire Boulevard in Hancock Park and borders La Brea. The area covers around 81,000 square meters.
The Getty Center
The art museum in west Los Angeles has housed around 50,000 mostly classic works of art, such as paintings, sculptures, drawings, manuscripts and photographs, since 1997. It is the largest part of the J. Paul Getty Museum, supplemented by other scientific institutions.
The Broad
This is a private museum for contemporary art with around 2000 works.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Also a museum for contemporary art. The building in downtown Los Angeles houses works by Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Robert Rauschenberg and Claes Oldenburg, among others.
For technology fans
California Science Center
The California Science Center is the largest interactive science center on the West Coast and is home to many aircraft, manned and unmanned spaceships, and an IMAX cinema. Since the end of 2012, NASA’s “Endeavor” space shuttle can also be seen there.
The Nethercutt Collection
Those interested will find numerous elaborately restored vintage cars in this car collection.

Griffith Park and Griffith Observeratory

The Original Farmers Market
The Los Angeles Farmers Market is a permanent market where groceries and culinary offerings can be purchased. Those interested can test all possible international cuisines there. The Farmers Market, which has existed since 1934, is one of the most important shopping centers in Los Angeles and has now become a real tourist attraction. In 2002 it was expanded to include the open-air shopping center “The Grove at Farmers Market”.
