Wholesale/foreign trade clerks specializing in foreign trade buy goods from a wide variety of sectors from manufacturers and suppliers and sell them on to trade, crafts and industry. They are often involved in international trade. They ensure cost-effective warehousing and a smooth flow of goods. They monitor the logistics chain, check incoming goods and stock levels, reorder goods and plan the delivery of goods.
The tasks of the wholesale and foreign trade merchant include the areas of office and administrative work, purchasing and procurement as well as calculation. He also plans and implements distribution systems. His logistical and mathematical skills stand him in good stead here. He advises and supports customers and is involved in all distribution and sales processes. He frequently monitors and controls payment transactions. Wholesale and foreign trade clerks are also employed in the marketing, accounting, processing and shipping departments. Knowledge of customs regulations and customs processing is required.
The wholesale/foreign trade clerk counts routine handling of MS Office and one or more foreign languages among his skills. His personal skills include the ability to work in a team, communication skills, flexibility and reliability. In addition to service and customer-oriented work, precise and independent work is required.
This nationwide regulated 3-year training course is offered in industry and trade in the fields of wholesale and foreign trade. School-based training is also possible.
