Commercial employees work in very different areas of the company: for example in purchasing or order processing, in internal sales, in materials management or in logistics. For example, he is responsible for the topics of processing, accounting and administration, but also for the independent office organization.
About the job and the typical tasks of a commercial employee
The tasks of a commercial employee can include invoicing and posting of incoming payments as well as the invoice verification of incoming invoices. He clarifies payment issues and provides support with questions relevant to controlling. He sometimes works with other departments such as purchasing, tax & law, IT or human resources.
Depending on the orientation of his company and his department, he also takes on many other tasks: he evaluates quality indicators and maintains master data in the corresponding system. Sometimes he creates offers and business calculations. General secretarial duties may include correspondence, processing and distribution of daily incoming mail or answering the phone.
Employers usually want a completed commercial apprenticeship or even a degree in business administration. Good to very good MS Office and very good German and English skills are often required. For his job, the commercial employee needs the ability to work independently, goal-oriented and carefully. We are looking for team players with very good communication skills. Well-founded analytical skills and implementation skills round off his profile.
