The state of Georgia, also called Peach State or Empire state of the South, is a state in the South of America. Georgia is one of the original thirteen states and was named after King George II of Great Britain. Georgia was founded as a British colony in 1732. Georgia is bordered on the north by North Carolina and Tennessee, on the west by Alabama, on the south by Florida , and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina .
