Job Description Risk Controller

The risk controller is usually found in banks or financial service providers, for whom he determines what opportunity – or what risk a transaction represents for his employer. In doing so, he assesses potential risks, evaluates and quantifies them and reports on his results. His position forms the link between controlling and risk management.

Part of the job and typical tasks of the risk controller

The spectrum that the risk controller examines ranges from compliance and money laundering to creditworthiness. For his task, he uses, for example, risk-bearing capacity calculations as well as weak point and risk analyses. Monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements is also one of the tasks, as is responsibility for the creation and analysis of risk reports. In addition, he develops and maintains key risk figures as needed and required. He is a competent contact for customers and colleagues for all questions relating to risk controlling and gives appropriate recommendations for action.

The position is usually filled with business economists whose focus is controlling with risk assessment and risk management. Most employers require very good MS Office and SAP skills, as well as fluent spoken and written English. In addition, candidates should be very familiar with the regulatory requirements. We are looking for reliable, communicative team players who work result-oriented. In addition, professional experience in the areas of controlling, accounting, risk management or auditing is part of the desired knowledge.
