The Treasury consultant advises on his own responsibility within a company or an organization on all questions relating to the procurement, optimization and administration of funds. He supports the Head of Treasury and his team in developing and monitoring financial policy.
Typical tasks of a Treasury consultant
The treasury officer supports the treasury team in all areas of responsibility. This includes managing a company’s bank accounts with the help of so-called treasury management systems. Together with the treasury team, he is responsible for cash management, ie for securing liquidity management and monitoring cash flows, among other things. Target/actual analyses, monthly forecasts and liquidity planning also fall within his area of responsibility. The Treasury consultant is familiar with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and is familiar with the German Commercial Code (HGB). He is available to the Executive Board at any time for special tasks or ad hoc inquiries regarding financial processes. He is the internal contact for all questions, related to financial processes and liquidity planning. The treasury officer works at the interface between all financial areas of a company: He cooperates with the accounting and controlling departments as well as with all other relevant areas.
He is also responsible for the processing of documentary foreign business and for the preparation of Bundesbank reports. The smooth running of all financial processes and the international treasury management system has top priority.
A degree in business administration with a focus on finance is usually a prerequisite for the position of Treasury Officer. You should have well-founded practical experience in the area of controlling/treasury in order to be able to support the treasury team competently in all areas of responsibility. Cost, performance and investment calculations, calculation processes and the safe handling of common IT systems are among his strengths.
