Job Description Manager Group Accounting
Within the accounting department of a group, the Manager Group Accounting is responsible for preparing and processing the financial statements of all subsidiaries. He reports directly to the Management Board or the Chief Financial Officer.
Typical tasks of Manager Group Accounting
The Manager Group Accounting, together with his team, is responsible for the accounting and consolidation of the individual companies in a group with various subsidiaries and foreign companies. He monitors the documentation and analysis of financial data in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and forwards important information to the Management Board and the CFO.
The Manager Group Accounting controls the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements of the various subsidiaries as well as the consolidated financial statements. With his team, he ensures that assets are accurately documented and that profit and loss accounts are drawn up coherently.
He is responsible for various consolidation steps, including capital, debt, expense and income consolidation and the elimination of interim results.
The Manager Group Accounting is just as familiar with the tax regulations and obligations within the group accounting as with the group-internal guidelines, regulations and general standards regarding the recording of financial data. He is the contact and specialist for departments and subsidiaries and foreign companies. He advises and supports questions regarding consolidation and accounting according to IFRS.
Typically, for the position of Manager Group Accounting, at least a commercial apprenticeship or a business degree (the focus on taxes and accounting is an advantage) is required.
Very good knowledge in the field of consolidation and accounting according to IFRS are just as much a requirement for this position as several years of experience in group accounting. Confident handling of spreadsheet systems and Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of common consolidation software are required.
The Manager Group Accounting usually assumes personnel responsibility – management experience is therefore an advantage.
