Job Description Head of Accounting

The head of accounting bears operational responsibility for the accounting of his company and, if applicable, the subsidiaries. With his department, he creates strategic analyzes and profitability studies as well as the annual success plan. He leads his team actively and motivating.

The Head of Accounting and his team ensure that the relevant processes in day-to-day business run smoothly. In addition to accounting according to IFRS and HGB, he also ensures that the required documents are submitted to his department on time by the relevant specialist department/subsidiary.

He is responsible for consolidation, reporting, analysis, forecasts, cash management and financing. In addition, the further development of accounting is one of his responsibilities. He is the contact for tax consultants and auditors as well as banks. He also advises the specialist departments and subsidiaries on financial matters. Depending on the orientation of the company, he sometimes also advises customers.

A successfully completed degree in business administration or industrial engineering is a prerequisite for this job – ideally with a focus on accounting and controlling. A secure to professional handling of the common IT systems in the office and ERP area (e.g. SAP R/3, module FI) is also expected.

The head of accounting needs leadership qualities – and experience in leadership in order to lead his team successfully. In this position, secure communication and presentation skills as well as goal orientation and assertiveness are essential.
