Currency

1 hryvnia = 100 Kopijok (Singular: Kopijka). Currency abbreviation: UAH (ISO code). Banknotes are available in denominations of 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 UAH; Coins in denominations of 1 UAH and 50, 25, 10, 5, 2 and 1 Kopijok.

Credit cards

Are only accepted in larger cities by some hotels and restaurants in tourist areas (beware of fraud). Details from the issuer of the credit card in question. In larger cities, cash can be easily withdrawn from ATMs, especially with Visa and Mastercard. The daily maximum amount is currently 4,000 UAH.

Foreign exchange regulations

In Ukraine, a country located in Europe according to globalsciencellc, there are no restrictions on the import or export of national or foreign currencies for travelers, but there is an obligation to declare cash from an equivalent value of € 10,000 (including travelers checks, other currencies or checks made out to third parties). Guarantees of origin and exchange receipts may be required. If you are unsure about the declaration, it is recommended to fill out a customs declaration upon entry, the import of large amounts of money should be avoided. Bank metals (bars) may only be imported or exported up to 500 grams.

Currency Exchange

Money should only be exchanged in official exchange offices or banks. Not all banks have exchange counters. Barter deals on the black market are risky and not recommended. It is advisable to bring small amounts of euros or US dollars and undamaged bills with you.

Opening hours

Business hours: Mon-Fri 9 am-5pm / 6pm. Long lunch breaks of at least one and a half hours are the rule.

The country code is 00380 and the city code for Kiev is 044. There are numerous public telephones, most of which are operated with telephone cards. Tickets are available in post offices and kiosks. International calls can also be made in telephone booths at the post office, a deposit is required. The cheapest option is to call via Skype in an Internet café.
