Job Description Head of Group Accounting
The head of group accounting coordinates the reporting in larger companies and institutions. This includes not only external reporting, but also group management and planning. He must ensure that both the accounting and financial statements (accounting and group consolidation), as well as the optimization of the tax system in the entire group run properly and efficiently.
Part of the job and typical tasks of a head of group accounting
The head of group accounting is responsible for the timely preparation of the respective subgroup financial statements and the individual financial statements for the entire company. He is responsible for the group’s tax issues and accompanies the process of auditing the individual financial statements of the companies. He is also involved in drafting changes to the IFRS accounting standards. He is responsible for updating the group accounting guideline and consolidating and preparing the notes in accordance with IFRS.
In addition, the head of group accounting oversees the internal (controlling, internal audit, IT, sales) and external (auditors, banks, tax authorities) interfaces.
He further develops the processes in group accounting and works on projects in the area of group structure (opening, closing, restructuring of subsidiaries) as well as in the preparation of the annual report.
The head of group accounting is also responsible for the development of central specifications for decentralized financial accounting, including the documentation and further development of processes. Financial systems and commercial projects are also within his area of responsibility.
