The Head of Internal Audit is responsible in a company, an organization or in a financial institution with his team for the preparation, implementation and follow-up of balance sheet and tax audits. As head, he usually has personnel responsibility and reports directly to the board or the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) / Head of Finance.
Typical tasks of a Head of Internal Audit
The Head of Internal Audit is responsible within an organization or company for evaluating the company’s internal risk management, controlling and monitoring systems. With his team of internal auditors, he ensures independent and objective security through the permanent review and evaluation of financial data and processes. He checks whether internal processes are running according to regulations and whether the principles of proper accounting (GoB) are observed.
The Head of Internal Audit plans, coordinates and directs audit processes. He ensures regular and reliable reporting to the Management Board or the CFO on risk management issues such as control deficits. He makes suggestions and gives recommendations on where improvements can be made in order to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
He is prepared for the event of an unexpected breakdown and knows how to take appropriate security measures.
As manager, he usually has personnel and team responsibility. He recruits and guides new employees, he monitors his team, advises, delegates and coordinates.
