The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for payroll accounting within a company or organization within the accounting department. In addition, he checks compliance with payment deadlines for taxes and social security contributions. He is often also a specialist in employment law.

Typical tasks of a Payroll Specialist

Within a company or organization, the Payroll Specialist ensures that wages and salaries are paid out and that tax and social security payment deadlines are met. He is responsible for reviewing and complying with applicable collective bargaining regulations. Labor law, income tax law and social security law are among his areas of expertise.

He manages and maintains the wage accounts as well as the master data and personnel files. He supports the accounting team with payment transactions. He corresponds with social security institutions, accompanies wage tax and social security audits and he supports employees and managers in all questions of payroll, the preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns.

The Payroll Specialist also takes on general administrative tasks and acts as a contact for health insurance companies, social security agencies and professional associations. He creates statistics, evaluates them and monitors deadlines in the area of ​​certification and reporting.

A prerequisite for a position as a Payroll Specialist is a completed commercial apprenticeship, ideally with a focus on wages and salaries or, alternatively, appropriate further training. Sound knowledge of payroll accounting should be available, including the safe use of common payroll programs.

Other conditions are a structured way of working, independence and service orientation.
